After my experiences with them last year, you may get there, may not, but you'll certainly be frustrated, upset, and frazzled at the end of the day no matter what happens. It's a shamshod airline with little regard to passengers. Sure, the new Terminal 3 is nice and clean, but seriously, unless you are making a nonstop flight, have time to spare for the inevitable delays, and little regard for your own sanity, just suck it up and take LH/LX. You'll thank yourself for it.
I somewhat agree that you need to have modest expectations of Egyptair and not expect the will run like clockwork.
T3 is a huge improvement but even there sometimes things go awry - I've seen huge huge lines at immigration, doors locked and nobody to open them when deplaning, luggage taking an hour to get off the plane, routinely late flights, mob scenes at boarding, people jumping out of their seats and rushing the front of the airplane while still taxing, cellphone use during takeoff, etc etc etc.
Although I wouldn't go quite so far as TravelinHusker, having flown them more than 50+ times I'm a bit more cynical than FlyingPharaoh and IAN-UK.
