Well it's after the fact & I just emailed Adam, but I'm definitely a read the newspaper & prefer it be outside my door vs in the lobby, but lobby is an 'ok' secondary option.

I get up in the morning, reach outside the door, grab the paper, read it while brushing teeth or while eating brekkie room service or in restaurant, or in cab on way to meeting, or even if busy, in exec lounge or room when I get back.

I spend enough friggin' time on the laptop during the day & in hotel room. I don't need one more electronic thing to read (she says, knowing she owns a Kindle that she takes on the road). And I'm sure as heck not going to read a newspaper on my smartphone. Even FT can be a pain via that method. I do read 'headlines' of some newspapers online that I get via e-newsletter.

I stayed at Chicago Courtyard Mag Mile this past weekend, checking in on Sun & out on Mon. My mouth (literally) dropped open when I opened the door on Mon & USA Today was outside the door - with my room # written on it, so it was deliberate placement. I thought those days were gone. The hotel got kudos from me for that.

BTW (back to Marriott for a moment) - the staff was great. I'd recommend the property if you're going to be in downtown Chicago. And it was the first Courtyard I've literally stayed at in years. Even got an upgrade.

Weirdly enough - the only time I turn on CNN too is when I'm in a hotel room. Yes, I could go on to CNN or BBC online, but it's easier to turn the telly on while I'm skimming the paper getting ready in the morning

Cheers.
