I take plenty of wine and beer back with me from my travels, in checked luggage now. Used to do carry-on, bringing back local craft brews or boutique wines. Often put beer bottles/cans inside used socks for extra cushioning, and place these in plastic bags. My bags are pretty full, so not much chance of bottles moving wildly about...though TSA often rearranges things after their inspections!
