That thread only discussed about the wishing tree on page 2 only from post #16-#19, it clearly talks about what is good to do in Hong Kong for the Chinese New Year as the post dates were early february (chinese new year happens every year either late January or early february, and that is what I am talking about as well. Maybe you think differently or confused about the wishing tree is a major tourist spot and you can go any days perhaps ?

During the Chinese new year, which comprise of 4 days of holidays, that is when most of the locals would go there. Other time even weekends, even locals seldom go there not unless it is along the way hiking trails nearby, as the meaning of the wishing tree is you make a wish for the coming year. Wishes are made beginning of the year only, not anytime later as your wish would not become true then, hence no one would go there after chinese new year.
