Another option is to use a baby equipment rental company at your destination. Just throwing this out as way to avoid bringing one at all...
If you are visiting someone, have them ask around. I'm amazed how many people have these things. I wouldn't risk the car seat (for safety reasons) but with other items, people often have recently or occasionally (like with grandparents) baby things around. I never took anything when visiting my family in the U.S.
I've used hotel cribs with mixed results. Ask what brand, how old, etc.
