Both can be true when you include anecdotal evidence of where/when everyone flies. I suspect many of these UG's are non-hubs with off-peak flying.

As a PM, I was getting crushed this year on UG's going through ATL at peak times but everywhere else, it was fine. I *should* be able to do better as a DM but really, UG alone is no reason to make the jump IMO.

OTOH, my wife will hold at PM this year while trying to hit 1K with UA. It will be interesting next year when we compare notes.
