I understand your disappointment but the Platinum bonus point has not, in my recollection of 7-8 years of SPG participation, been included in any double or triple promo.
I only joined SPG in April (I status matched from Marriott) so I wouldn't have known about that.
I'm actually not disappointed - I would have been fine had they told me upfront that I was only getting 7 points; that way I could have made a more educated decision about where to stay. But when they set the expectation of 9, I expect 9. It's much more about delivering what was promised than it is about being disappointed.
