Addressing this situation specifcally - no. SPG points are earned from stays and bonuses according to published program rules, not according to any assertions by employees of Starwood, SPG or hotel properties. We all agreed to that when we enrolled. See 1.8d.

I understand your disappointment but the Platinum bonus point has not, in my recollection of 7-8 years of SPG participation, been included in any double or triple promo.
