We're having a family (my wife, toddler daughter and I) trip to Europe next spring. We'll be visiting Rome, Venice, UK and Paris. I've already booked my return: CDG-ZRH-BOS with LX (tatl in F).

However, I'm not sure which flight to go for in the outbound. Haven't checked availability, but dates are a little flexible, since we'll be visiting family in UK, and can pad that out a bit if necessary. I don't have enough miles for F, and since it will be an overnight, it's probably not worth the extra expense.

I'm tempted by CO, since in 'businessfirst' we'll be the highest category cabin, and I've heard good things about it. However, the flight gets into FCO v. early (07:45) -- probably too early for us to check in to our hotel. I've read about a 'day room', but not sure how long one could use that for.

Alternatives would be LH, LX or UA (not keen on US). One potential advantage of LH would be that if we have a free layover in MUC, I could visit some friends there for a day or two. The UA flight gets in at 08:30, the LH and LX flights in early afternoon.

What would FTers recommend?
