Reclining seats in 1st

I just flew 3 flights in 1st to ANC and three back, and was shocked at how low the seats go back on the 737-900s. I flew from IAH-PDX with a man practically in my lap. (I don't get THAT close to my hubby's head!) My seat mate had the same problem, and it was difficult to slip out of our row to get up. On PDX-IAH I literally got hit in the head when the man in 1A reclined his seat. I was getting something out of my backpack and he flipped back so quickly and so far, it bonked me on the head.

Is it just these 737-900s or has anyone else noticed how little space we have when the person in front of us reclines all the way? I love my 2A seat, but I just tried to switch all my seats to 1A for my flights to Hawaii this weekend. Maybe I'll get through without a bump on the head!
