Took the latter option. Kept copies of my boarding passes and the MCO's for teh upgrades, and faxed them off to BA; miles and TP adjustments took about a week to process (as they originally landed as Y mileage and TP).
Wow I'm surprised you could combine the two. Has anyone else been able to do a double-upgrade in this manner? I've got a couple of long haul Y trips that I'd love to push up to J if possible.
