Assuming you are a BA Gold, this is simply wrong.

As a Gold, you can TCP any other booking on any flight on which you have a booking. I do it regularly.

Neither you nor they can move the non-status pax round the cabin, but you can request that seating allocate them a particular seat and generally they will do so.

Just use the magic code "TCP" when you speak to the Gold line about it and ask them to send the request to seating. It is usually actioned within 24 hours

Silvers cannot TCP a booking. Non-status pax can only benefit from Silver pre-allocation of seats if they are on the same booking as the Silver Card Holder.
