Personally, I think it's very good advice.

I always keep mine on until the seatbelt sign is turned off. I also keep my wallet, passport, moneyclip, mobile, fags and a lighter on me until we're in the cruise. Those all things I fancy I would welcome having if I've just made it out of a Manchester '85 / Phuket '09 / BA38 / AF at YYR the other year type situation.

The peanut butter, ball-gag and restraints will just have to take their chances in my rollaboard.
