Sometimes it is helpful to call the hotels directly and ask about a day rate. If you should book a regular rate you should not have an early departure fee as you are not cutting the number of nights booked. I had a hotel try to charge me an early departure fee in a similar situation and the front desk person was quickly corrected by the front desk manager. If you do not care about hotel chain you may try the Red Roof Inn as it is actually a pretty decent place for a Red Roof Inn and had a nice little diner attached to it. I have been staying at the Hilton Garden Inn next door (which I also recommend) and it is one of the nicer Red Roofs I have seen and more than fine if you are just looking for a little rest and a shower.
