I get Q-fares all the time between SJC/LAX. They are the refundable last minute yet still not nearly as expensive as full Y fares. I get miles and q-points posted - although it is impossible for me to tell if Q-points are 50% or 100% because the 500-point minimum applies on such a short flight.
