I spent my first 19 yrs of live in HK and since then I visit this place once a year. Can't help you out with hotels since we are staying in serviced apartments when we are there. The only thing I know about hotel is that Sheraton Towers are very old but if you can get a seaview room then it would be nice.

If you are from LA - Don't go to HK Disneyland unless you are collecting some special pin or something. It's waste of time and money (I have been to all Disneyland except the one in Tokyo). I got in through a friend and there is no magic inside the park - we went to Disneyland in LA with 3 kids 4,2, years old and an 6 months old infant, and it still had magic despite all the lifting and carrying and feeding etc. We still felt that it was 1000 times better than the one in HK.

Ocean park is nicer in our opinion but if you are from LA you might see it differently. It's not as grand as SD zoo or Sea World. However Ocean Park has a nice mixture of both where you can ride rides and see quite some animals at the same time.

Macau is nice but both my husband and i felt extremely unsafe there - much worse than Vegas. It's a nice place to see and it's possible to do it in a day. A lot of HK people go there to eat because you can get realy portugese food there.

You need a visa to enter China and as far as I know you can do it when you are in HK. My husband is Danish and he never has desire to go there and neither do I.

The great Budda is a great site for westerners and you can get a daypass that is good thru the whole Lantau Island. If you are into nature you can visit the wetland park in the New Territories. HK is a place with beautiful nature and a lot of tourists don't know about it.

Have a nice trip and we are going there during x'mas.
