Were you (or for multi-slayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest rate and received a corner room on high floor.
How are the rooms?
Very basic, quite small but perfectly decent (clean, very recent)
Very quiet
Air conditioning was very efficient
Small bathroom with bathtub
Flat screen TV with a good selection of international channels
Wifi
How is the Club Lounge?
N/A.
What was good and what was bad?
Good:
- Free wifi for Platinum members^
- The beach is very close (3 minutes by bike). I have to say also that I like the location (new district full of interesting architectural and social projects, and the very pleasant Poblenou street one block away). But this location is certainly not the best for a first visit of the city.
- Very friendly staff
- Pretty nice interior design of public spaces
- Had a free late check-out at 6pm to have shower after the beach
Bad:
- Breakfast is VERY basic (ham, cheese, tomatoes, fresh fruits) and served in the room which quickly turns to be a capharnaum (despite its more than decent size). The best thing is certainly to have breakfast outside in numerous living Barcelona cafés
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Barcelona is full of excellent hotels, and I do prefer staying at Hotel Omm, Hotel Pulitzer (and want to stay next time at new Mandarin Oriental).
But HIX Barcelona is a good choice if you are with friends who do not want to spend too much time and money at the hotel.
However, if you look for something more trendy, there are some good hotels that can be as cheap and certainky better value (AC Barcelona, Barcelo Raval, Vincci Maritimo, Granados 83, B hotel, ...).
