Here are my worst experiences:

#1. Had my flight cancelled due to revolt/revolution in the country, inbound simply did not arrived so I was stuck (like all other pax) and was waiting a few days for outcome. All comms down, but I had a sat phone which helped (2 separate occassions at 2 different locations).

#2. Had my flight cancelled due to airport stormed by rebels who destroyed a few aircraft on the ground (1 occassion).

#99. Had my first leg delayed, then cancelled. Rerouted to another flight, which was delayed as well, missed my connection. Stuck. (XXX occassions, last one was just on the last week).
