Need help with a cancelled ticket
This past February, my wife booked tickets for us to travel ORD-BCN in September for a two week vacation. Economy tickets were purchased and miles were used to up-grade to business class (50k miles).
Since that time, my company has asked me to relocate to Spain for a two year assignment. Since we'll be in Europe for awhile, we decided not to take our vacation.
After speaking with a reservations agent, my wife was informed that it will cost $250/ticket to make changes plus any fare difference. The $350 fee to up-grade each ticket is non-refundable. If my wife wants the miles used for the up-grades deposited back into her account, it will cost $150 per ticket.
Additionally, the proceeds from the cancelled tickets must be used for itineraries departing from the U.S. only and any travel must start by February 2011.
I just want some expert advice on if the above information is correct or if other options are available.
Thanks in advance!
