It is bad, but the problem they were having before was actually worse, as I am sure you noticed. Before, not only were people backing up onto the escalators but they had to hold everyone downstairs, causing the entire terminal around checkin to become so clogged it was almost impossible to walk around. It is not so much a problem of the NEW setup being horrible as it is a problem with the entire layout.
