The importance of seat selection – in my dreams
I suspect that what happened to me a couple of nights ago would never have happened before I joined Flyertalk and started to glean as much information as possible to make flying comfortable and enjoyable.
I have an upcoming trip booked to SFO, and have taken advantage of the pro-active cheapo upgrade to WT+. There was the potential to change my inbound flight to stop by the office for a conference we’re hosting. I phoned BA to ask what the damage would be to change the inbound leg departure airport and they quoted only the change fee, which was fine, but due to the fare rules, if I did so, I would lose my upgrade on the outbound leg. I declined to make the change, as there was no way work would compensate me for losing the upgrade to help them out (don’t ask).
I don’t often remember my dreams, but this was very vivid.
I’m boarding my flight and am walking down the plane and cannot find my row – my dream was accurate in that I was flying WT+ to SFO as well as in real life, but I think the row number was incorrect. I walk up and down several times but still cannot find the row - it just doesn’t exist. I ask a crew member what I should do and am told they will try to find a seat for me “down the back somewhere”. The fact I booked a specific seat in WT+ does not seem to be of interest to them. I think the fear of ending up in a middle seat at the back prompted me to wake up, although not screaming.
Needless to say I was straight into Manage My Booking as soon as possible to double-check my reservation.
Flyertalk can do strange things to a person can’t it?
Anyone else had anything similar?
