Yes the OP finally said that she/he had a crack in a hard sided Samsonite bag. As I said, not all cracks are covered. If this crack happened on the edge of the frame that it might be due to a manufacture defect but I hate to keep repeating myself but that is why a baggage service agent needs to inspect the damage.
