The cheapest Qatar Business Class LHR BKK for my dates and the right times, don't like getting up early for flights, was just over £1500.

Adding a low cost BKK HKT carrier is about another £100.

The cheapest Thai was £2300, about the same price as Qatar via KUL.

So am going with change airlines option.
