OP said "police officer that escorts prisoners." That sounds like a local LEO prisoner escort rather than a fed. When I did that many (MANY) years ago, we often had little warning and just paid whatever fare our travel agent could get for short-notice flights. When a wanted waives extradition, you go get him right now, before he changes his mind.
