I knew when I booked the trip, I had requested specific seating assignments together. When doing the reverse LHR tango, we fortunately had time to get new passes sitting next to one another.
So it took the AAgent some extra keystrokes, but you were still sitting together. Sounds like the AAgents did a good job, in both cases, of working around the shortcomings of the computer interfaces.

Let us hope that with the EU/USA dual approval of AA's and BA's super sized partnership, such computer issues will not only be noticed by both airlines but also corrected.
I'm sure BA and AA are working toward better integration of their computer systems, but I have no idea when that will happen.
