Forgot iPod touch at Aloft Birmingham Soho Square UPDATE: Hotel will replace

Hello fellow FT'ers,

I'm looking for some advice on what I should do in a "situation" I'm in.

Last Friday, the 20th, I forgot my iPod touch at the Aloft in Birmingham, AL. I realized this once I got to the airport. So I immediately called the hotel, and the "Aloha desk" stated that they had one and asked me to describe mine (it's cover, rather).

So I did... and they confirmed that they had it, and would ship it (at my expense, w/ my CC on file) via FedEx - -most likely the next day, on a Saturday.

Monday rolls around and I call the hotel requesting a FedEx tracking number. And all of sudden... no one knows anything about the whereabouts. I speak with a Lost & Found manager who researches it.

Wednesday I send an email to the hotel via the email address listed on their SPG hotel website. I get a phone call from the same L&F manager, telling me that she is still researching it. And asks me the value. (To me... it's very important, as I have personal and business data on there.)

Today, I call SPG Platinum concierge to please assist. They call the hotel and speak with an associate this morning giving me 24 hours to call me back.

What would you do if you were in this situation?? I am frustrated... not stellar Platinum service.
