Depending on the GDS system the travel agent is on (Sabre, Worldspan, Apollo...), you will need the Sabre (or AA) record locator. If the agent is using Worldspan, Apollo or one of the others, they have a record locator for that GDS system, and AA will also return a record locator to that GDS system for the segment booked. The AA locator is the one you need.
