Just as an FYI for anyone whom is looking for a nice way to get some status starting out. I had a fellow Chairman grant my friend a silver status since he had yet to find a use for it for the year. So, as of a week ago, he is now a zero mile, zero segment Silver member. On Sunday we will fly from Baton Rouge (BTR) to Melbourne, FL (MLB) generating 4 H/S/J points, 2 for new routes, 1 for East, and 1 for West. This will make him Gold after only one flight, and conveniently lock in my Chairman for another year.

After that posts he plans on paying the $200 for the 90 day trial preferred challenge which will push him one level to Platinum for the 90 day period, after which he should be able to lock that new status level in with no issues at all.

So, all in $200 + a flight he had to take regardless and he is solid Gold with a very good shot at higher, and he gets to be Platinum for at least 90 days while working on maintaining the higher level.

And just in case anyone thinks this might not work for some reason, I had the Chairman desk verify that we understood how all of this would apply prior to setting it in motion and have it documented via email that is will work.

How is that for crazy.
