I tried doing a search and didn't find anything, so I was hoping somebody might be able to answer a couple questions. I am flying AKL-MEL-LST in September with the first flight on NZ and the second flight on JQ. I purchased these as two separate tickets, so I'm aware that's an issue, but do NZ and JQ interline at MEL?

If so, do you think I would have any luck trying to link the itineraries to get my bag tagged through to LST from AKL? I am scheduled to have over 3 hours at MEL, so most likely I shouldn't have an issue with clearing customs/immigration and re-checking the bag at the JQ counter if necessary, but I thought I would ask and save myself a step if possible.
