Was travelling to visit an old friend in a city half way between Oslo and Gothenburg. It proved to be a very short trip but very worth while! Really only 4 days.
Managed to take advantage of a 20% off good J fare on AC…as I recall, thanks to an LH J sale…..BA you lost out on my generally solid source of funds on this one…and travel for less than $2.5K all in from YYZ-FRA-GOT-FRA-YYZ in J….although J on LH within the EU appears to be a nice meal and an empty seat next to you but not really J IMO. Sadly, to be fair to BA, they have not flow to GOT for a few years….

I really think AC needs to improve the food selections in the MLL…I am not sure if they get that pasta and sauce for free for sticking up some other companies advertisement, but I do not think it does much for AC's reputation. IMO it just looks cheap. Having recently been on the Plaza Premium Paid lounge on another recent flight out of YYZ, I would actually have preferred the meal there. A few photos of the more substantive hot food option is here.

A few other snacks in the MLL. Some peaches that could have used a week ripening, unless you like eating an peach like apple. As usual, mediocre wine selections (typical for most lounges I have been to in any event) and 4 types of beer on tap. I had a small glass of white as I decided I was going to just stick with Drappier the whole flight to FRA and had to have a conference call before I boarded in any case. Did not take any photos of the lounge. It was relatively busy and has a good airy feel to it. Silly sign in procedure to use the computers in the biz centre. Did not take any photos as I did not have enough time but looked nice.
No preboarding announcement for J pax, however, separate line for the same but lots of gate lice managed to slip into the same and AC did not do much to prevent the same. Oh well. Separate entrance for J pax that was nice also to board the forward cabin doors. I have found that boarding has become a bit of a joke these days with no one listenning to announcements and really no one doing anything about it….
My seat 6A. Great space although wish the window was placed a little better. Amenity kit had a $50 credit for Fairmont hotels that will come in handy for my spouses trip next week. Amenity kit had a few things but I generally only use the mask, socks and toothbrush and all those where there so I was happy. I bring my own ear plugs -
http://www.earplugsonline.com/ that you can mold into your ear and they are about as good as you can get and allow you to sleep on your ear.
Our neighbor as we are pushing back.
Departure was a little behind, however, captain noted time would be made up in flight.
Flight took us right over the city. Nice views….
One thing that really stuck with me….PRETTY PLEASE AC…STOP CALLING THE SPARKLING WINE CHAMPAGNE….happened both going to FRA and from FRA. In any case, obvious pass…but in both cases, FA opened a new bottle of Drappier when drinks came around…guess the little glass helps keep the champers costs lower by "supposedly" giving the champagne fix early…to be honest, perhaps staff feel a little sheepish about the fact that depature drink is not champange...
Is it not illegal to call sparking wine champagne when it is not?
In any case, this is not the first time for this but was made up for with a nice generous pour of Drappier….
Sadly, for about 1.5 hours…the black AVOD screen of death. AVOD had to have a few re-boots and finally they managed to get it working. Moving map was working at least. I really like the AC AVOD. I just wish they could upgrade to larger screens and not have so many problems with the same. Perhaps it is just my luck. The endless commercials get a little annoying but I pull out my iphone and listen to some tunes instead while they are playing.
The menu and the meals.
Had the beef both ways. Food was generally good. Deserts were fantastic, but the cheese, I tend to prefer things with a little more punch.
For those counting, only 1:4 in the button hole department for trip.
Getting close so must be time for a light snack. I actually preferred the small snack on arrival to a larger item.
Our bird on the apron….boy do I hate FRA! The whole busing around thing really grates on me.
