In a recent Global Traveler magazine wine tasting of business class wines (Global Traveler, August 2010), this Selbach Riesling was rated was rated #5 out of all the white wines tested. Interestingly, the number one white wine was a 2007 Selbach-Oster Riesling Kabinett, Zeltlinger from Mosel, Germany, served by Qatar Airways.
You comment about wanting the wine a tad drier remind me why I am always leery of trying Rieslings; IME, it's not that often that you get one that's dry enough.
You know, I saw that magazine, and I saw the Selbach on the menu. I asked about it but it was not on any of the flights on my recent trip (SFO-SYD, SYD-MEL, SYD-SFO). I think Rieslings are generally too sweet, but I did try a couple of drier ones while in Australia.
