I, too, of course, would love the 5K referral points, but I joined the Starwood AmEx campaign at BzzAgent and they offered a special deal offering the card with 10K points upon your first purchase and 15K points when you spend $6K in 6 months. The referrer gets no points for referring, but it's a good deal, so thought I'd share it. If interested, PM me.
The normal deal is similar but you have to spend $10K in six months. So for a $4K larger spend, your referrer gets 5K more SPG points. In my case, the referrer and referred each got 5K points - not sure if that was intentional or not.
