Excessive YQ doesn't affect only BAEC mileage redemption tickets, it also affects BA's ability to sell OneWorld around-the-world products. Everyone who does the slightest bit of research knows that these products can be bought for hundred/thousands less if purchased from almost any OneWorld airline other than BA or QF. I can understand BA's reluctance to invest hugely in supporting the RTW business, but making themselves the airline- to-avoid in regard to primary RTW sales (the average RTW purchase is GBP 5,000 or so) is foolish ---- low hanging revenue fruit ready to be plucked if the YQ were eliminated.
