As for "what's the hurry:" We have a trip we want to book. The hurry is that every time I do this, the flight I have eyed jumps in points before my miles post! Happened with United and a 60k flight to Thailand. By the time the 30k CC bonus posted, the flight doubled to 120k miles. This time, with AA, we called and held the LAX-OGG flight for 5 days. Lucky for us, our miles posted right away and we got it while it was held because the flight jumped in miles.

Thanks for all the posts. I'm learning a lot. I still get a headache reading the coded language in the tricks thread, but I'm slowly learning that. Seems like the mileage game is a hierarcy: 1. CC bonus miles. 2. Mileage Runs. 3. Mileage Runs with FD.
