Today I was boarding a flight from MKE to ORD. It is run by Chautauqua as American Connection.
I have carried the same laptop bag for several years. It is a true laptop bag with wheels. It is not large and easily fits in a regional jets overhead bins.
The FA would not allow it on the plane and made me gate check it. He claims they are a no carry on airline and it was not allowed.
As I waited gate side to retrive it I watched others with backpacks and purses much larger come off.
Is there really a new policy making my laptop bags an item I cannot carry on. When I asked him why it was not allowed he said anything with wheels is prohibited.
I also now have to travel with a CPAP...Everyone I have encountered from checkin staff to TSA to flight attendents on several airlines (including on an RJ) have understood I must carry it on.. and is allowable as a 3rd carryon on most airlines. (As long as there is nothing additional packed in the bag.) When you contact Amer Connection make sure you emphasize the other bag is a CPAP and your laptop.
