They are very similar and World Square is an excellent location (including good cheap restaurants plus a supermarket in the basement). So I'd go with Rydges unless you want a kitchen to cook your own meals, in which case Meriton. Another alternative is something in Potts Point like the Devere on Macleay St. (more fun neighbourhood, a bit like Times Square crossed with Park Avenue, full of millionaires and backpackers cheek by jowl). Should be easy to get <AUD200 there and it will be clean even when low-end.
I would not call that part of Potts Point (or any part) a cross between Park Avenue and Times Square. Chelsea and Times Square may be.
To the OP if you are planning to only be in Sydney for two nights then I would recommend the Menzies for convenience, safety and price. You can get the Menzies for around AUD150 at the moment. In the CBD you can take the CBD Shuttle for free and then its only a short walk to Circular Quay and Opera House.
