Both flights are on one ticket. I'm doing a Platinum Challenge on AA (so going via FRA on the way out and via DFW on the way home) - the one trip will get the distance I need to get the Platinum Status. I wouldn't normally choose this routing for a weekend in Chicago!

What will happen if I miss the connection - will I have much hope of getting a re-route or will I just have to go the next day?
my gut would say that if you miss the connection which is on one ticket that AA would rather get you on your way than have to put you in a hotel overnight in FRA.

dont know the flight times but they could route you back to LHR and onwards from London, to MAN and then from there or otherwise use any other OW airlines via MAD, LHR etc etc etc
