Definitely not. The limit to get 1 mile per pound was certainly no higher than £300 a couple of years back. I'm certain because I always got that rate of miles and I never take as much as £500 worth of foreign cash - typically around £300-400.

Yes, they're pretty good. Almost as good as my local place, but not quite.

Tiresome, tiresome, tiresome. When I used Travelex, I quite often had to wait 10-15 minutes to collect my currency. At T5 once I was the only customer and it still took them over ten minutes. ("Oh sir, you're very early" - it was about 7am - "we haven't done the prepaid orders for today yet" ). I can walk to Thomson, get my currency and get back home in less time than I'm in the queue at Travelex. More importantly, a wait like that is much more frustrating when you have a plane to catch than, say, you're just walking home from work.

One thing I will say in their favour is that they are very good when things go wrong. I was flying on 10 August 2006 and with pretty much every other airport-related service and airline in chaos and totally unreachable, Travelex found the time to call me to see whether I wanted a free refund for the currency I had ordered. As it happened I was still able to travel from LGW to IBZ late in the evening (thanks BA ^) so I didn't need it. On another occasion I simply forgot to collect the currency at the LHR T1. I called them on arrival in MAD and rather than pay the £10 admin fee for a refund, I asked if I could collect the Euros (for later use) on landing back in London; this they were able to do even though I was flying into LGW.
