I normally call the DD and have them write it up. Depending on what was done you can do more. One time I called the DD, and then her supervisor and nominated the employee for employee of the month. I made sure the DD sent/ called the GM prior to my departure and then double checked with the GM a few days later. Actually the GM was very nice and we had a good conversation. He mentioned normally all you ever hear are the bad things it was very nice to hear something nice. After that every time I stayed there I was always well taken care of.
