Thanks. I actually do have EF. What I can't figure out is how to gauge upgrade availability from it. Don't have my own eVips often enough to accumulate much experience.
I can see that there are lots of seats open in Biz class but people (rightly) say not to read too much into seat maps.
After you log in to EF, click on Awards & Upgrades on the left. Enter your cities, date, select AA as the airline, and for booking class you want "Business - Upgrade (C)." If there are any seats available in the C bucket then the upgrade is available. If it shows C 0 then it isn't.
