Non-resident NYCHA parking permits
I live in a neighborhood with a lot of low income housing projects. Out of curiosity, the other day I looked up info on parking in the NYCHA projects, and noticed that they allow non-residents to apply for parking permits in the projects--many of which have lots with reserved spaces. And it costs a fraction of the cost of parking in a commercial lot (the non-resident rate for a reserved spot is $650/year, compared to $325/mo in most of the lots around here).
Has anybody ever heard of a non-project resident getting a parking permit in the projects? Putting aside the question of whether you'd actually want to leave your car there, is it really possible for non-residents to get permits? I've always assumed that the NYCHA lots are way oversubscribed, since there seem to be very few spots, so it's possible the non-resident permit is just a theoretical and not a practical possibility. But I wonder...
