That said, it is a VERY different product from the long-haul C seats that CO, UA and others offer to deep South America. And the timing from LAX to GIG means a redeye LAX-PTY, a 12 hour layover and then another redeye to GIG. That's going to beat you up pretty good.
Some notes from my latest weekend with Copa are here.
And here's what I did on a similar layover in March.
If you want me to get you in touch with the driver we used in PTY I can do that. He was pretty good.
The schedule I am looking at has us getting into PTY at 5:58 p.m. and back out to GIG @ 9:12 p.m. Plus, since we are going Biz class, we'll have access to the lounge in PTY, which I hear is pretty decent. Hopefully, we can catch a few winks between 9:12 p.m. and 6:22 a.m. when it lands.
Trust me, I'm not expecting anything like Qantas. I think it may be very similar to the "First Class" we took on Delta when we went to Rome. I didn't even know there were seats that lay flat until we were on Qantas (I mean I knew, but I didn't think I'd ever get to lay in one).
Economy is $700 (one way)....so I think we really scored.
I have it on hold until August 24th....I am just trying to see if I can get the JW Marriott for one more night (March 6th) before I purchase the airfare but it is highly unlikely since it is Carnival (and I'm so very lucky we scored the JW Marriott for the 7th and 8th!!!!).
