Since they split it across both sides of the harbour, by far the best place to view it from is now clearly a boat. It seems pretty much designed for the mainland package tourists who are on that very garish pink boat (and a few others) out there every night for the show.
I have never done if off a boat but I wonder how one will hear the tone from there. It's pointless without the music.
