Perhaps you're confusing this with another property? The Monterey HGI, which is an old rebranded Holiday Inn, is awful - thin walls, thin floors, right next to the freeway.
It is next to the pacific coast highway, but the noise is only a small number of rooms facing the highway. Most rooms are quite, I have have not notcied the walls and floors being thinner than any other property. The Gym is really good.
