QF's excess baggage rates are far, far higher than that of BA's (about x10), so do be aware that QF can and will probably charge for it as it is the operating carrier that determines the excess baggage charges. I do not recommend going even 1 kg over, if you want to avoid paying excess, as they will try to charge you (even if you are a QF Platinum nowadays).
