For Asia try Thai or Malaysia on the 777s, for India try Kingfisher on the Airbuses (assuming they serve the routes you need - I don't know much about what they serve in terms of the US). These have good legroom for me in the normal economy seats, and I'm about the same size as you (quite long in the legs as well, and about 2st/28lbs heavier).
I've often found that airlines *without* a premium economy make the normal economy less rubbish, as there is less motivation to do so in order to upsell.
