That's the first time he even got stopped, when he tried to board a plane.

Chennai, Aug. 18: A drunk cobbler exposed chinks in security at Anna International Airport on Wednesday, making his way without a ticket to a private aircraft on the tarmac which Delhi-bound passengers were boarding.

Airport officials said A. Krishanmoorthy, 27, reached bay 59 around 4.45 pm and then joined the queue of passengers waiting to board a flight to Delhi.

“The airline staff discovered that he did not have a ticket and alerted the CISF,” an official said. “The CISF men picked him up. The man was later handed over to the airport police.”

The police said the man was a resident of Madipakkam and was completely drunk.

“After questioning him we discovered how he managed to enter the building and pass the security checks to get to the tarmac,” a police officer said. “A lot of construction activity is happening at the airport. The security personnel must have mistaken him to be a worker. Even then, I wonder how he got past the doors without a valid duty pass.”
