This is one of the closest SPG hotels to the Expo site so it was totally full.

Amazing how the surroundings have totally been upgraded in less than six monthes. All the roads are finished, buildings nearby are completed, new restaurants and stores all brand new. The shopping complex next door did a total makeover in the food section. More restaurants and even choices for formal dining. Late last year, it was one major construction rush to be ready for the Expo.

The flip side of the hotel being so busy is more untrained staff. The regular concierge is really on the ball and ready to assist however the temporary or new concierge just lacks judgement or training. For example, I was in the lounge and needed to go to the bathroom but I was carrying my laptop. I asked if I can leave by laptop with the concierge for 5 minutes (it was not a splash and go) while I went to the loo. Her reply was, "No. Please go to my room and put the laptop in the safe then I can use the bathroom." It wasn't worth arguing nor did I have the time so I just asked the nearest gentleman sitting nearby if he can look after my laptop and went to the washroom and came back. After I had finished, resettled in my seat and thanked the gentleman, the concierge comes back about 10 minutes later and says "I have asked my supervisor and he has informed me that she is able to look after my laptop while I go to the washroom." The gentleman sitting nearby and I had a chuckle.

Common sence is not so common.
