I was basing my thoughts about open containers in DTW on formeraa's thoughts. I do not know if it is illegal or not, but living in Detroit, it would not surprise me at all. If it is illegal, then it is just as illegal to carry a mini with a lid on it as it is to carry a water bottle around that you are drinking from.
Anyway, I agree with the past few posters...in the grand scheme of things, this sure doesn't matter much. But it does make for an interesting read. And as a physician who specializes in addictions, I find the behavior observed by the OP to lead me to wonder about this person's relationship to alcohol.
