I think it's quite possible. Maybe try calling revenue and asking them? They're supposed to tell you if the flight is oversold.

I think "discrepency between ITN/PTO and the true booking situation" may be a slight overstatement. ITN is telling you how many seats are available for sale (9+), and PTO is telling you how many seats aren't assigned (50+). But AC are telling you that at least one more ticket has been sold than there are seats on the plane, which does not necessarily contradict either of the other statements.

I ran into this once myself, I couldn't force an award ticket on the two flights I wanted, one was oversold by 3, the other by 2 (but still plenty of space on ITN and its seatmapper).

If they aren't oversold by much, it's possible it will fix itself if some of those reservations get changed.
